Farrah Fawcett Tries To Avoid Going Blind

Poor Farrah Fawcett has not had a very good time lately! The star, who has had to undergo intense chemotherapy treatment for cancer, is now reported to have been diagnosed with ptergium - a condition which causes a thickening of the outer coating of the eye and usually occurs in people who spend a lot of time in the sun. Farrah is now preparing to undergo surgery for her eyes in a bid to stop her from going blind, according to a British newspaper.

A friend tells The Sunday Express, "At the beginning of January, Farrah thought she was suffering from a mild bout of 'pink eye'. There was some minor irritation and she thought it would go away. But her eyes became so full of gunk in the mornings and they were virtually sealed shut. Then she started getting blurred vision and finally excruciating, burning pain in her eyelids."

Specialists in Los Angeles have told Fawcett to stay away from sunlight because the damage to her eyes was caused when her immune system was low following chemotherapy.
