Carrie Underwood and the 44th Academy Country Music Awards 2009, Las Vegas

The 44th Academy Country Music Awards were held last night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and there was a turnout for this one with stars from the Country and Western scene and also from other walks of celebrity life notable names included Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and Nicole Kidman also attended. the event and it was hosted by Reba McEntire.

The star of the show was without doubt Carrie Underwood, she’s topping the headlines in the media not only for winning the Entertainer of the Year Award plus Top Female Vocalist , that was headline enough, but it was the strapless dress she was wearing that nearly filled the whole stage that is causing a major stir, photo above.

Live performances from female artists included Miley Cyrus and she performed her new song as she danced on top of a high staircase on stage, Heidi Newfield sang her song “Johnny and June,” and Carrie Underwood performed as mentioned previously with her MEGA dress. Taylor swift also performed her balled “You’re not Sorry” after the magician David Copperfield’s performance. Taylor Swift was presented with a special ACM Crystal Milestone Award for helping to draw a youthful audience to the world of country music.
