"Dog Whisperer" to the stars Cesar Millan is giving President Barack Obama and his family some tips on raising the new White House puppy Bo.
"When I watch President Obama speak, it's clear that calm, assertive energy is something that comes naturally to him," Millan tells People Pets. "But often men and women who are leaders in the workplace don't apply this 'pack leader' frame of mind with their dogs. That's how problems develop."
"The best piece of advice I can give the Obama family is wisdom passed down from my grandfather: Never work against Mother Nature," adds Millan, host of National Geographic's "Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan." "Fulfill your dog's inborn needs -- exercise, discipline, affection, in that order -- and you will have the foundation for a balanced human-canine relationship."
It was revealed over the weekend that the Obamas had adopted a Portuguese water dog and that first daughters Malia and Sasha Obama named him Bo after their cousins' cat and after First Lady Michelle Obama's father, who was reportedly nicknamed Diddley after blues/rock legend Bo Diddley.
