NBC renews 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'

LOS ANGELES (AP) — NBC is renewing "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" for another year.

Series creator and executive producer Dick Wolf said Tuesday he's "thrilled" that the crime drama will return for its 11th season. "Special Victims Unit" is NBC most-watched scripted series.

Whether stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni will be back as well remained a mystery Tuesday. A person familiar with the matter said they had yet to conclude contract talks with NBC Universal Television Studio.

The person asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to comment on the discussions.

The actors went through reportedly bitter negotiations two years ago, each emerging with deals worth roughly $6.5 million per season.

  • It's important to keep the law and order franchise on as long as possible. Consider the writing, acting and the ability to watch an episode over and over again because you know eventually you will find a clue that was not there before. classic show.

  • I'm glad the show is coming back BUT if Mariska and Chris don't come back - then I won't be watching! It was hard to watch when Mariska was out on maternity - I did not like her fill in. So, if the show is going to make it another year - you better...
