Zoe, who plays intergalactic beauty Lieutenant Uhura in 'Star Trek,' tells Women's Health that she's excited to be playing parts in the sci-fi genre. In addition to her 'Star Trek' role, she also plays an alien in the James Cameron thriller 'Avatar,' due out in December. "I’m a Star Wars fan, but I love the whole 'Alien' legacy. My favorite was the second one, because of Ripley [Sigourney Weaver]. She was such a feisty creature -- strong and still very motherly."
Even as a kid, Zoe says she looked at dolls differently than most girls and liked making hers more interesting. "Growing up, my dolls were doctors and on secret missions," the actress tells the latest issue of the magazine, on newsstands April 21. "I had Barbie Goes Rambo."
When asked about dressing up, the 30-year-old actress says she likes to mix it up a lot, even going masculine. "I love wearing men’s clothing and underwear. I just feel so sexy in jeans and a man’s shirt. Plus, I love black, red. I love solid colors that say 'I'm here; I’m strong.'"
Zoe says she's happy to be riding the current wave and "wouldn’t want to change anything in my life." "Am I happy? Happiness is nothing but temporary moments here and there -- and I love those. But I would be bored out of my mind if I were happy all the time."
'Star Trek' is set to open in theaters on May 8.
