Drew Barrymore plays ‘Little’ Edith Bouvier Beale, Jessica Lange plays ’Big’ Edith Bouvier Beale and Jeanne Tripplehorn is Jackie Kennedy Onassis in this documentary style film. Drew Barrymore gets the “stole the show” award for us, with her retro chic look, and she really looks a picture.
Grey Gardens Trailer:
The Plot:
Edith “Big Edie” Ewing Bouvier Beale and her daughter Edith “Little Edie” Bouvier Beale were the aunt and first cousin of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. The two women lived together at Grey Gardens in squalor and almost total isolation.
In the Fall of 1971 and throughout 1972, their living conditions were exposed as the result of an article in the National Enquirer and a cover story in New York magazine[1] after a series of inspections (which the Beales called “raids”) by the Suffolk County Health Department.

The Verdict:
Limited material on this one, so its stick a finger in the air review, documentary style films are hard to rate, but with names like Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange in the fray, an interesting storyline based on a true story and a remake of the 1975 film this looks to be a reasonable film if not an overly exciting one, we are neutral on this one and our Rating 3 stars out of 5. Box office wise this is a wild card film but the Barrymore and Lange names will pull in the fans.
