Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, is saying that her horse was spooked when photographers popped out of the bushes to get a shot of the material girl riding.
Boyfriend Jesus Luz and famed photographer Steven Klein were among a small group of friends who witnessed Madonna's fall and waited with her for the ambulance to arrive. Both Luz & Klein also accompanied her to the hospital.
Luckily, Madonna sustained only minor injuries and bruising and was wearing a helmet when she fell. She was able to walk out of Southampton Hospital on her own and is said to be staying with close friend, Gwyneth Paltrow, in Amagansett.
Madonna and her posse had chartered a helicopter and flew into East Hampton Airport Saturday afternoon for what should have been a weekend retreat with friends - complete with the best weather we've seen all spring. Her publicist says she'll now spend the rest of the weekend under her doctor's observation. There are also plenty of rumors & rumblings coming out of the Hamptons tonight as to who the photographer was and what media outlet sent him there. We won't report speculation this early, but this is one story we have not heard the last of.
