Production Halted on Twilight Sequel

Production of the Twilight sequel ‘New Moon’ that is being filmed in Vancouver has been halted among allegations of plagiarism by author Stephanie Meyer’s former college roommate.

Heidi Stanton, 36 of Salt Lake City Utah roomed with Stephanie Meyer during their years at Brigham Young University.  Heidi, who is a mother of 4 has not had time to read the books but watched the DVD last week for the first time:

“Quite frankly, I was shocked when I began watching the movie with my husband last week. I immediately told him that she got that idea from me! I wrote a fictional short story with the same ideas when we were in college together.”

On Tuesday papers were filed in Utah for claims of idea infringement and as a result post production of the movie has been halted with studio execs stating that production has been ‘put on hold’.

Heidi has documented proof of her story and BYU English department chairperson Dr. Peter Benton  says:

“The story stood out in my mind, at the time, because it was more advanced than most sophmore students usually presented, also the vampire story stood out because I had recently taught a series of lectures on Brahm Stoker’s Dracula.”  “I felt at the time that Heidi had brought a very current and up to date look at a classic subject.”

Stephanie Meyer has claimed that the idea came to her during a dream in June of 2003.  Without prior writing experience she wrote the book in 3 months with the book(s) going on to sell 42 million copies worldwide and being translated into 37 languages.

    The person who uploaded this article couldn't even be bothered to spell STEPHENIE's name correctly. I wonder who thought allowing users to upload stories was a good idea?

  • I think that is not fair. Twilight is awesome and I would never survive if they outlawed Twilight. And further more, there is no way that anyone would do that because she would have already got noted by that Peter Benton guy, and if it was that good he would have saved it, god dang in!

  • I really don't think that that's true. I mean, why would the roomate wait? Plus, if she has 4 kids, then she would've heard about it already and watched the movie with her kids and husband. Plus, how could Stephenie Meyer remember the idea when it was years ago? That is really not true, and it doesn't change my mind about the series. They're still awesome. I can't believe people are desperate for money and fame..my gosh.

  • so since this article is NON-SENSE (a nicer word that i would have liked to use), shouldn't this article or whoever is incharge of this site and article, not only be EMBARASSED but apologize to stephanie meyer for trying to sabotage her career. Just a thought.

  • I belive that this HEIDI person is a fake... She's obviously jealous of the fact that her college roommate (Mrs. Meyer) had succeeded at her carrer... While shes obviously living the not so happy life with her 4 kids and husband. The fact that this woman is trying to in other words destroy Mrs.Meyers carrer sickens me; why cant she simply be happy for her instead of being such a rodent.=/
