Vanessa Hudgens Gets 'Beastly' at The Insider

ET breaks casting news! Vanessa Hudgens is setting out to prove that true beauty comes from within.

CBS Films -- which is currently producing the Untitled Crowley Project with Harrison Ford, Brendan Fraser and Keri Russell -- has announced its latest project with a female superstar in the lead. Following 'The Back-Up Plan' with Jennifer Lopez, 'Beastly' is a modern-day take on Beauty and the Beast, with Vanessa playing the role of the fair maiden.

Set in Manhattan, the movie tells the story of a handsome rich kid with a mean streak. When he ditches a date, a curse is placed upon him, turning him into everything he hates. The grotesque transformation leaves him with the seemingly impossible task of finding true love to break the ugly spell.

The film will shoot in summer 2009.

dont get me wrong she is beautiful.. but she smokes cigs(its a fact..my friend hung out with her), she got caught w/ naughty pics,she drinks.. she's a normal person! and in every interview she uses the word amazing or fun.. she just needs to stop...

she can act. i admit she is not oscar material but hardly anybody is when they start in the industry. they learn and pick up skills as they try different movie roles.

to be honest, most of us have only ever seen her in ONE ROLE that didn't have...
