Jill Scott Welcomes Baby Boy

Actress and singer Jill Scott and her fiance Lil' John Roberts have welcomed a baby boy!

The star of HBO's newest drama, "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency," gave birth to Jett Hamilton Roberts at 4:20 p.m. on April 20.

The baby boy weighed 7 lbs, 8 oz. at birth. People mag reports that Scott discovered she was pregnant the day she was scheduled to leave for Botswana to film the HBO show.

She told the mag: "At one point, I was trying to gain weight for the role, and I noticed I had put on 7 lbs. in seven days.

"And I thought, my God! What's going on here? I thought something was wrong with me, and I found out I was pregnant the day I was supposed to leave for Africa."

Scott and Roberts, a drummer, have been engaged since last June, People reports.

  • The TV episodes filmed in Botswana are just so good! Jill and oh, that assistant Grace, they are just terrific, and so is the hairdresser, and the mechanic. I hope they come back after this first season is over.
