Faithful followers of Big Brother will be delighted to know that the show’s host, Julie Chen, is expecting her first child with her husband, Les Moonves. Julie has already said that she will still be doing the show this year which is also good news for the show’s regular viewers, me being one of them. The show just wouldn’t be the same without Julie and the best part is, we’ll be able to watch her throughout most of her pregnancy (especially when she gets really, really BIG) because she’s due in October. With the show’s finale usually being in September, she sure will be huge when she asks the contestants to place their final key in the box. Just one more thing to make this season even more exciting! “Newsflash: Julie Chen of CBS’ The Early Show is pregnant.

On Tuesday’s show, she announced that she and husband, CBS Corporation President and CEO Les Moonves, are expecting their first child together.

Rubbing her tummy, Chen, 39, joked, “So it wasn’t a big Sunday at the buffet table. I’m starting to show now! And my due date is Oct. 4. So, fingers crossed.”

She also said she won’t be “taking maternity leave” from hosting CBS’ reality show Big Brother.

Said Chen, “I e-mailed my boss over there this weekend and I said, ‘Don’t worry. I can still do the show!”‘ (She kidded that the headlines could read, “‘Big Brother Gives Birth. Medical Miracle!’”)

I’m giggling over that headline - I sort of wished I had thought of it myself. Congrats to Julie and Les!
