Here is more on the movie from ign.com:
The Mach 5, as featured in the forthcoming Warner Bros. live-action adaptation of the classic Speed Racer cartoon, has been revealed.
The sweet new ride, first glimpsed in today’s USA Today, is clearly based on the old-school design, but has a retro-future look that reflects the visual tone of the upcoming flick by Matrix filmmakers Larry and Andy Wachowski.
Producer Joel Silver told the paper that despite the Wachowski’s R-rated pedigree, Speed Racer is going to be more widely accessible.
“[The movie] is going to be very bright, very family-friendly,” he says. “And it will have great effects like The Matrix, just with the car.”
CG will be used to create most of the Mach 5 scenes, but no effects will be needed to bring Speed’s pal Chim Chim to life.
“They’re using a real monkey,” Emile Hirsch says. “Just don’t call him that. He’s a chimpanzee. He gets upset if you call him a monkey.”
Speed Racer stars Hirsch in the title role along with Christina Ricci as Trixie and Matthew Fox as Racer X.
