Obama tells the Associated Press that Bo -- a six-month-old Portuguese water dog -- loves to bark and play as well as chew on people's feet. "He's kind of crazy, but he's still a puppy. So he likes to play a lot," she said.
"It was like 10 o'clock. Everybody was asleep and we hear all this barking and jumping around," Obama said, describing one recent puppy experience. "The president and I came out and we thought somebody was out there. And it was just Bo. He was playing with his ball. And it was like there was another person in the house."
The First Lady says that as expected with a young puppy, the family spends lots of time walking and training Bo, who recently arrived at the White House as a gift to the Obama daughters, Sasha and Malia. She gave the update during a program Thursday marking the annual Take Your Child to Work Day.
