The Transformers actor stopped off at a comic book store and a vintage clothes shop, where he picked up a natty blue cardigan.
He took a break from cycling to enjoy a coffee at a Starbucks, where he looked engrossed in a graphic novel he had bought at the comic store.
But all the pedaling around must have worn Shia out as he called a friend to give him a lift and packed his fold-away bike up in the back of their small van.
The star was banned from driving in January following a collision in Hollywood in July last year.
He was cleared of driving under the influence by the Los Angeles County District Attorney, but had his license suspended for a year for refusing to undergo chemical tests at the scene of the accident.
