Simon Cowell Predicts Millions from Susan Boyle's Debut Album

Things are looking up for Susan Boyle and Pebbles predicts Simon Cowell.

"We will ship between three million and five million copies of a Susan Boyle album."

Ms. Boyle became a global sensation when the unassuming, unemployed, unkissed 47 year-old woman from Scotland took the center stage of 'Britain's Got Talent' and blew away the superficial judgments of the audience she confronted. The "voice of an angel" melted the crowd's scorn and brought the audience in attendance to their feet. Since then, tens of millions of people around the world have been mesmerized by both the performance and the back-story.

In an age of pre-packaged lip-syncing pop stars, is it necessary to possess an extraordinary vocal instrument or just fit-the-suit, as Greg Brady discovered during his brief turn as rock-star Johnny Bravo? Is it possible that someone who is 47 could be true undiscovered talent? Is it right to insult and demean a person following their dreams, regardless of their level of talent? USA Today compares the inspirational story of the Scottish songstress to a Disney movie, pulling on a gamut of emotional heartstrings, including "guilt, shame, hope, surprise and vindication."

People may watch shows trafficking in human misery, as one might watch a train wreck, but people will enthusiastically embrace stories reaffirming the goodness in all of us. It makes the world a better place to live and sing.

  • I wish Susan Boyle the very, very best and am heartened that she is "on the road again". I plan to buy her album...what a voice (I don't care how old she is or that she isn't fashionably Hollywood!)
