Meanwhile, "The Insider" interviewed Scottish singing phenom Susan Boyle's hairstylist, and she's spilling all about Susan's "wee, mini makeover."

When audiences worldwide first saw Susan winning hearts on "Britain's Got Talent," her hair was short, curly and a stately gray color, but now she's looking even more lovely, sporting a shorter, chestnut brown 'do!

Caroline Boyle (no relation) of Miss Toner's salon told "The Insider" that it was a "collective decision" between Susan, her family, and the stylist to give her a new look: "We decided [that] to change her [a lot] was not a good idea -- you know she's charming as she is -- so we just trimmed it a little and put a little color in, [to] take away the gray."

Caroline explained that the reason for the cut and color, which cost about $51, was partially due to criticism from the press: "I think the papers like to sell papers, so they say some horrible things, but it's not nice for [Susan's] family to read those kinds of things, so I think that's why she had a wee, mini makeover -- just to make her look her best, rather than change her."

She said that Susan is a regular customer, and enjoyed whiling away Thursday afternoon at the salon: "She was very relaxed and she [commented] that that was the most relaxed she had felt in a few days, so she just sat in the chair and enjoyed the chat, and enjoyed the wee transformation."

Caroline told "The Insider" that while the locals knew of Susan's singing talent, they have nonetheless been "blown away" by her newfound fame, and commented, "I don't think there was a dry eye in Scotland when she sang."

On whether Susan ever breaks into song at the salon, Caroline replied no, but added, "I think we might ask her the next time she's in!"

  • HER VOICE IS BEAUTIFUL. I DON'T SEE HOW HER APPEARANCE COULD AFFECT HER CHANCES OF WINNING. IS SHE BEING JUDGED ON HER TALENT OR HER OUTFIT. IT IS NOT A FASHION SHOW.

  • If she is happy with who she is why should it matter. No one should ever judge a book by its cover.. and she proved this to visually critical society.

  • Why is she being criticized for having a mini makeover? Good for her. If it was a makeover that completely changed her that would be a different story, but she is just an improved Susan Boyle. Go Girl!

  • The eyebrows had to go! What's wrong with wanting a little TLC and a new look? We all an ego boost from time to time. You go girl!

  • Come on folks, it's not plastic surgery... just a little "femininity" to match the voice.

  • I ink she looks much better and that will make even more people respect her. At least people won't judge her by her appearance anymore.

I just hope she hasn't lost her smile.

  • IF A WEE TRANSFORMATION MAKES HER FEEL GOOD SO BE IT! SHE WILL STILL SING LIKE AN ANGEL.

  • I think this will help her. If she doesn't make some changes then the press will say mean things anyway. Susan you do what is best for you and no one else. Good luck!!!

  • I don't know a woman or young girl who doesn't like to make a little effort for special occasions with a new lippie or hair colour and this is most certainly a special occasion - Good on ya Susan - go girlfriend.
