'Impressionism' set to close May 10 on Broadway

NEW YORK (AP) — "Impressionism" is fading to black.

The Broadway play starring Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen will close May 10 after a shortened, 56-performance run at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.

"Impressionism" opened to mostly negative reviews last month after a troubled preview period. During previews, the play by Michael Jacobs was condensed to one act instead of two, and the plot clarified. It concerns the relationship between an art gallery owner and a photographer.
