"The Insider" has learned that police will be in contact with Rihanna today.

The singer asked Los Angeles police and prosecutors to return over a million dollars in jewelry that was seized as evidence the night she was beaten, allegedly by then-boyfriend Chris Brown.

L.A. Superior Court confirms that the LAPD will photograph the $1.4 million in borrowed jewelry and return it to her today.

Attorneys are due back in court on May 28th to set a date for the preliminary hearing.

  • I agree that the public is finally having it's eyes opened on domestic violence. I do however think that we should look at how many women or even men are not taken seriously when they are violated by being beaten by the person whom is supposed to love them. While I feel for Rihanna, I think that we should be looking at how we can bring awareness to this problem for everyone not just those who happen to be famous.

  • I'm actually glad that this whole Rihanna-Chris Brown situation has received so much press because it gives the very serious issue of sexual assault a lot of deserved attention. But it's important to remember that there are so many other issues out there as well, and many such as malaria and measles, are surprisingly easy to solve. I think that the U.S. should take some leadership on these and other issues such as severe poverty. The has good info on the estimated cost of ending global poverty:

$30 billion: Annual shortfall to end world hunger.

    $550 billion: U.S. Defense budget.
