Friends of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" dad Jon Gosselin are coming to his defense after allegations of him stepping out on his wife.

Longtime family friend Dustin Sands tells People.com that the reality pop just needs time to himself. "The guy just needs to be cut some slack once in awhile when he wants to relax a bit," he says.

Brian Sep, another friend of the family, goes even farther, saying, "He's just hanging out, relaxing with his friends. Honestly, he doesn't go out that much. It seems like he's on house lockdown. He's a fulltime Dad."

Meanwhile, Pat Fagan, a bouncer at Legends Lounge -- where Jon was spotted with the other woman he calls a friend -- says that Jon's night out was totally innocent. "They seemed like casual friends. There was no romantic anything. They weren't gazing into each other's eyes," Pat added. "He always has his wedding band on. He talks about his kids all the time. He loves his family."

  • I have watched and enjoyed the children - acting like children and siblings. I don't know what their family life is without a camera but Jon has been unbelievable in not responding to Kate and her hatefulness in addressing him.

  • Sometimes...with the best of intentions, mothers get so consumed by motherhood that they forget to be a wife and lover and best friend to their husbands. Sadly, it is oftentimes impossible to do both.

  • Watched the show from the first season and it seemed that Kate was always badgering Jon, I would even go as far as to say verbal abuse. He was always polite and nice even when Kate took out her digs on him right in front of millions of viewers.
