Christina Aguilera Goes 'Burlesque' on the Big Screen

Music superstar Christina Aguilera has signed on for her first big screen project -- read on for more details.

The four-time Grammy Award winner will star in Screen Gem's 'Burlesque,' Variety reports.

Aguilera will play a talented singer from a small town who finds success and love while performing at a burlesque club in Los Angeles, says the trade paper.

"I couldn't be more excited, as this was a project written with her in mind," Screen Gems' president Clint Culpepper tells Variety.

The new film will begin shooting later this year.

  • This role couldn’t have gone to anyone better. Christina deserves it ‘cos she has the talent and the face to be on camera. This girl carries herself like a show woman - she has magnetism and charisma..presence.. and the girl can definitely sing, act and dance her ass off. Yes, call her a triple threat!

  • Since seeing Christina on SNL I've been waiting for more from her, but I am happy she didn't rush into anything.

    I wish her all the best, acting isn't the easiest of the performing arts. If SNL was a preview then she'll be fine. My only advise is that she research as much as possible about her character and let that work for her.
