Silvio Horta, who writes and produces the US show, said: “From the get-go, we found some really good stories for her, but we never found enough to service her character the way we wanted to and the way that she wanted.”
He told British newspaper The Sun: “She wanted to do more, but it was difficult with a large ensemble like this to give her more. I hope in the future she’ll come back. She’s an important part of the show.”
Scottish actress Ashley, 39, played Christina McKinney in the show until her recent departure. She shot to international fame after starring as Maggie Jacobs in Ricky Gervais’ hit comedy series Extras.
