Animal Week Continues with Victor, the Cheetah!

"Wild Animal Week" rolls on on "The Insider" with the Animal Planet's hunky expert Brandon McMillan and Victor, the cheetah.

Today, the animal trainer and behaviorist shows our Samantha Harris how to pet his spotted friend with a firm touch -- as long as he is purring.

"That is a good sound," Brandon says. "A good thing about a big cat, they will let you know when they are mad."

Victor weighs between 120-125 pounds and Brandon tells Samantha, "A cheetah can not take down the same size game as a leopard, but the cheetah has an advantage -- it has the speed. A cheetah can burst 70 miles per hour in about three seconds. That is faster than most sports cars. A leopard, however, has the power in its jaws to drag an animal up a tree.

"Another really interesting thing about a cheetah is that it doesn't have retractable claws. It is the only cat without retractable claws. It is more like a dog."

For more "Wild Animal Week," check out tonight's "The Insider." Then catch Brandon on his Animal Planet series, "Night."
