Spoiler alert! Did Izzie (Katherine Heigl) risk her life by undergoing brain surgery? Is George (T.R. Knight) leaving Seattle Grace? Will Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) finally say I do? Read on for your recap of the emotional and shocking "Grey's Anatomy" season finale!

On the highly anticipated episode, Izzie does decide to get the brain surgery even though she could lose her memory, but first she insists on signing a DNR order (Do Not Resuscitate). The surgery at first seems successful -- but when Izzie wakes up it is clear she has difficulty with her short term memory. Dr. Shepherd (Dempsey) has to keep reminding her that he removed the tumor. This sends her new husband Alex Karev, (Justin Chambers) into a state of panic and he tries desperately to help Izzie retain her memory.

After a heated argument between Izzie and Alex, her memory appears to have come back.. The couple embraces each other when tragedy strikes. Izzie loses consciousness in Alex's arms. Alex demands that the doctors including Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Chief Webber (James Pickens Jr.) resuscitate her --- despite Izzie's DNR request.

Meanwhile at Seattle Grace Meredith and Derek try to find time during their hectic day to go to City Hall and get married. As Meredith starts to panic about their crazy schedules, Derek decides to take matters into his own hands.

Derek draws up a makeshift marriage contract and after the two determine their wedding vows on a post-it note, they sign the contract and seal the deal with a passionate kiss. Meredith asks Derek to promise, "You'll love me, even when you hate me," and Derek pledges "Nobody walks out, no matter what happens."

In another shocker, George decides to enlist in the army to treat soldiers in Iraq. His fellow docs plan an intervention to talk him out of it. Later, as the docs work to save the life of an unidentified man who was hit by a bus after pushing a woman out of its path, they learn that the critically injured man is, in fact, George.

Izzie and George both are crashing when a flash of white light changes the scene dramatically. Izzie (wearing the recognizable prom dress from season two), takes an elevator ride and when the doors open, she is face to face with George in an army uniform. Tune into to the next season of "Grey's" to learn Izzie and George's fates!
