The 38 year old actress is most famously known for her role within the hit films “The Mummy” and “The Mummy Returns” alongside Brendan Fraser.

She was at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival  to promote her latest starring role where she plays the scholar Hypatia and plays an astronomer in ancient Alexandria alongside the late director Anthony Minghella’s son Max in Roman Egypt.

Her inspiration for this role came from her 85 year old aunt who she said” devoted her life to science”. Alejandro Amenabar from Chile is the films director and has an Oscar to his name.
