Penelope Cruz has already worked with Almodovar in his last film ‘Volver’ in which she played a woman who killed her abusive husband. The film made her the first Spanish woman to be ever nominated in the category of best actress at the Oscars. In Broken Embraces, Penelope will play a would be actress from Spain’s provinces who is pursued by an unscrupulous financier. The film also stars Lluis Homar as a writer who goes blind.
