'Top Model' Contestant Speaks Out on Anorexia

"The Insider" interviews its first recovering anorexic contestant on "Britain's Next Top Model" about the prevalence of the illness in fashion.

Model Jade McSorley says she decided to try out for the show despite the fact that the modeling industry has developed a bad reputation for promoting unhealthy young girls. "I didn't want it to hinder me from doing something that I love," she tells "The Insider."

McSorley admits she fell for the industry image that skinny equals success in modeling. "It's awful when a girl goes through it because she wants to aspire to be thin, to aspire to be a model." But McSorley, who is 5'9, says she hit rock bottom at about 90 pounds and was shocked when she finally acknowledged her tiny size.

Watch the video for more on her transformation and to hear how eating disorders affected every aspect of her life.

  • I, too, was anorexic. In fact, I'm the same height as Jade and was about the same weight she currently is when I started to recover. While I am glad for her that she's happy pursuing Britain's Next Top Model and that that has made her not want to...
