Allen was considered a longshot several weeks ago as well as coming into tonight’s contest. Allen overcame the more flamboyant Adam Lambert, who was championed by nasty-brit judge Simon Cowell. Many had thought that Lambert was one of the best - if not the best - performer ever on the show. And he certainly put jolt into a show that has become a champion of mediocre/dull performers (Taylor Hicks for example). Don’t feel bad for Lambert - the dude has chops and will come out just fine.
