In the internet video, Gigandet, 26, who plays evil tracker vampire James in the hit film, is seen jogging when he spots a Twilight book group sat nearby. He then tries to sneak past without the group of girls noticing but they spot him and shout: "It’s James!"
He shouts back: "Actually, I’m not James from Twilight. My name’s Cam Gigandet… I just played him in a movie that’s all. It’s good to see you guys, though."
As he tries to leave, the girls start to shout "Don’t let him escape" before surrounding the star and one girl asks him: "Why did you try to kill Edward, James?"
The girls are referring to Robert Pattinson’s character Edward Cullen in the hit film, who Gigandet’s character James tried to kill.
When he tries to defend himself and claim he isn’t a vampire and just an actor, one girl slaps him and they start to cheer before one girl says: "That was for Edward."
The girls try to fight Gigandet but he eventually knocks each one out before saying: "I tried to tell you. They don’t give Best Fight MTV Movie Awards to just anybody."
