Night At The Museum:Battle Of The Smithsonian Dominates At The Box Office Over The Weekend

A Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian might have dominated the weekend earning around $53.5 million over Terminator: Salvation which made about $43 million, but if you tally Terminator’s opening day Thursday, which included a few thousand more theaters, it’s end total was $174 for the entire weekend.

I’m a little surprised that A Night at the Museum sequel beat out the Terminator movie, I guess you can’t overlook the feel good family movies. Star Trek landed in the third spot this weekend taking over as the number one movie of the summer which was previously held by X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Here’s a look at estimated ticket sales over the weekend:

1. Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian $53.5 million

2. Terminator: Salvation: $43 million

3. Star Trek: $21.9 million

4. Angels & Demons: $21 million

5. Dance Flick: $11million

6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine: $7.8 million

7. Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past: $3.7 million

8. Obsessed: $2 million

9. Monsters vs Aliens: $1.3 million

10. 17 Again: $1 million
