NEW YORK (AP) — The upcoming Broadway revival of "Bye Bye Birdie" has found its teen idol — Nickelodeon's young heartthrob Nolan Gerard Funk.

Funk will portray rock 'n' roll superstar Conrad Birdie in the Roundabout Theatre Company production which opens Oct. 15 at Henry Miller's Theatre. Previews begin Sept. 10.

The Vancouver-born performer starred in Nickelodeon's hit tween musical "Spectacular!" His other credits include the feature "X-Men 2," the miniseries "Taken" and the CW's "Smallville."

"Bye Bye Birdie" concerns an Elvis Presley-like singer who is being drafted into the Army and the effect his departure has on the teenagers in a small Ohio town.

John Stamos will play the star's manager, Albert Peterson, and Gina Gershon will portray the manager's long-suffering secretary.
