The first couple departed Washington D.C. on Saturday for Manhattan, where they enjoyed a romantic dinner at a Greenwich Village restaurant before taking in a Broadway show.
"I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished," the president said in a statement to the Associated Press. The First Lady was dressed in an elegant black sleeveless dress, while the president opted for a dark suit and white shirt.
The two headed to New York's Belasco Theatre on West 44th Street, where they attended the Tony-nominated Joe Turner's Come and Gone, a play about black America in the early 1900s. Right after the show, the first couple returned home to Washington.

The release date for the Sex and the City sequel has been set for May 2010! Will you watch?
