Clay Aiken Talks Prop 8

Clay Aiken was recently asked his opinion on the California Supreme Court’s ruling on Prop 8, which makes gay marriage illegal in the state. The singer answered the question quite well with a very lengthy reply. He starts off with “I will say that I am QUITE disappointed that Prop 8 passed in the first place. I could argue all day the myriad of reasons that I believe the US Constitution provides for equal rights for all people. And, as much as it is their right to have a differing opinion, I think that some of the arguments coming from the anti-gay side are stupid, hypocritical, and even contradict themselves.” Check out Clay’s official website forum for his whole answer.

  • Gosh, anonymous 6-27, what part of "what I do in my private life is nobody's business.. period". This is what he's been saying for years. The fans that held on to the couple of times in 2003 that he said he wasn't gay when he was out to NO ONE are...

  • Clay Aiken is completely correct. He has a grasp of our system of Government. He knows how dangerous it would be to let courts overturn the votes of the citizens. Clay will be very influential in pleading the case for Gay marriage.

  • HERE IS THE REST OF CLAY'S PROP 8 STATEMENT:
That said, I can't say that I am too upset by the CA Supreme Court's ruling. While it is disappointing that same sex couples in CA will have to wait longer to have equal rights, at the same time I worry...

  • My answer to Clay is : YOU have been stupid.
    YOU have been hypocritical.
YOU have contradicted yourself MANY times !
I was one of your most devoted fans until the big reveal. The only reason we STILL thought you were straight was because we...

  • Yes, it is a slap in God's face when a man or a woman cheats on their spouse, and God is not happy with this, nor is God happy for marriage to be changed to two of the same sex. God intended for one man and one woman to be faithful to each other for...

  • Is it not also a slap in God's face when a man or a woman cheats on his or her spouse? I am a straight Christian and I so disagree with you. Marriage should be between 2 people who Love and Respect each other. Their gender should not be an issue....

  • I don't agree with Clay. Marriage has always been & always will be between a man & woman, not 2 men or 2 women. To believe otherwise is nothing more than a slap in God's face. God is the creator of marriage. What right do we have to change what God...

  • WOW! What a turnabout for a man who said he was NOT gay and was a Christian. I think if there were going to be same sex marriages, they should have a new term for it.....marriage should be reserved for man-woman. Why change everything for the small...

    • I think the line 'They are getting way too pushy for their own way,"' had also been said about non-whites during the period of segregration in the States - perhaps even unto this day with regard to ethnic minorities.

  • Basically for those who can't get into the fansite, he says that even though he doesn't agree with the people's vote to ban gay marriage, he does agree with the decision of the court to not overturn the vote.

Because he doesn't want to give...

  • I wish you had published Mr. Aiken's response in its entirety. I read the entire analysis on P. Hilton's website. Given the media's focus on the negative and tabloid rumours, I was extremely surprised to find what a very intelligent and articulate...
