Carrie Prejean Blames Firing on Anti-Same-Sex Marriage Answer

Carrie Prejean says she was fired as Miss California because she denounced gay marriage during the April 19 pageant.

"It's just because of my answer, I think," Prejean told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush Wednesday night. After gossip blogger Perez Hilton asked her about same-sex nuptials, Prejean said she felt marriage was "between a man and a woman."

Prejean, 22, continues: "None of this would be happening right now if I just said, Yeah, gays should get married. You're right, Perez Hilton."

(She also blamed her answer for losing the Miss USA competition.)

Pageant director Keith Lewis announced that Prejean lost her crown Wednesday because she failed to honor her commitments (she apparently skipped multiple pageant appearances). She was replaced by runner-up Miss Malibu Tami Farrell.

Shanna Moakler -- who resigned her position as California pageant director last month -- told Usmagazine.com Wednesday that her "faith has been restored in the Miss Universe Organization and with [pageant owner] Donald Trump."

Trump -- who originally allowed Prejean to keep her crown despite revelations that she had posed in her underwear as a teen -- said he was standing by Lewis' decision to fire Prejean.

She stood up for her beliefs and I'm proud of her...you go girl! Donald Trump is a nasty old fart!

I was amazed when they actually supported her right to free speech and to respectfully express her true opinion in this PC society of ours. I was not surprised they found a reason to fire her. I expected it. It is disgraceful that she was not notified in person by someone before the entire world knew.

This girl is the ultimate whiner and wants to be painted as some sort of victim. I'm sick of her. I don't care what her views are on gay marriage, but she's cleary using it as a scapegoat. What a loser. Grow up and deal with it.

Her crown should have never been taken away from her. She was the only girl in that pageant who gave a real answer, and had a real opinion. She holds the same opinion about gay marriage as Obama and Hilary Clinton, but no one sees it as wrong or "hateful" with them. Her crown was taken away because Shana Moakler and Perez Hilton didn't like her. However, both Shana and Perez helped her out in the long run, because she's the only name from the entire pageant that anyone remembers.

I would think that "skipping multiple pageant events" would end up with you being fired. Don't hide behind your religion sweetie...you did not live up to your CONTRACT!

IT is NOT because of your answer, it's because you werent doing your job, as Miss Cali you are a represenative for them and speak for them so when they ask you to do something you do it!!!! The only way your firing is related to your gay marriage answer is because you've spent all your time since then going on an anti-gay marriage media tour instead of making the appearances required by the pageant. Ever heard of breach of contract?? That's why you were fired! Anybody who still claims otherwise has the intelligence of a dog turd. While I do not agree with her opinion, it is her right to have. I appreciate her being honest. She did not honor her contract plain and simple. Trump should have had the kahunas to let her go last month but he didn't.
