NEW YORK (AP) — "Fela!" (FAY'-la), one of off-Broadway's big hits last summer, is coming to Broadway.

The musical, based on the life of African composer and activist Fela Anikulapo (ah-nee-koo-LA'-poh) Kuti (COO'-tee), will open Nov. 23 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Preview performances begin Oct. 19.

"Fela!" will be directed and choreographed by Bill T. Jones and will include many of Kuti's own songs, which incorporate a variety of styles including jazz, funk and African harmonies.
