Reese Witherspoon takes spoonful of medicine in Pharm Girl

Reese Witherspoon will star in a new comic movie, Pharm Girl, about the pharmaceutical industry.

Witherspoon, 33, will play an executive who discovers the dirty underbelly of the pharmaceutical industry as she rises through the ranks of her company.

She is also producing the movie under her Type A banner. The film is being developed by Universal, with Bad Santa’s Glenn Ficarra and John Requa writing the screenplay and in talks to direct the film.

Witherspoon rose in the ranks of Hollywood stardom through comedies such as Legally Blonde and Election. She won an Oscar in 2006 for Walk The Line, in which she had the serious role of June Carter, the singer and wife of Johnny Cash, played by Joaquin Phoenix.
