Boyle suffered exhaustion after the reality TV show was over and was admitted to a hospital in London. Since then, Boyle was unable to perform in a few shows for the live tour. Cowell said:
“Looking back on it all, it has become clear to me that we didn’t handle the situation with Susan as well as we could have.
Yet, to be honest, I don’t know that I could have done it any differently.”
He explained that when he saw her sing during her first audition, he “thought she had come over well, but not sensationally.” He added:
“I certainly didn’t think, ‘here comes a phenomenon who is going to become the most famous woman in the world, I wonder if she can mentally cope with it?’”
Well, I do agree with him - how could they have seen it coming? They’re not psychiatrists, but maybe they should have some counselors available for future contestants.
