West Wing's Bradley Whitford and Malcolm in the Middle's Jane Kaczmarek filed divorce papers on Friday in Los Angeles.
"He hopes the media will respect their wish for privacy as they focus on their children," a rep for Bradley said.
The couple have been married just shy of 17 years and have three children together.
