Ryan O'Neal Plans to Marry Farrah Fawcett

Ryan O'Neal says he's asked his longtime love Farrah Fawcett to marry him and she's agreed.

"We will, as soon as she can say yes. ... Maybe we can just nod her head," O'Neal told "20/20" correspondent Barbara Walters of marrying Fawcett, who has been battling cancer.

The actors have been dating off and on since the '80s and have a son together named Redmond. "I used to ask her to marry me all the time," he said. "But ... it just got to be a joke, you know. We just joked about it."

He assures Barbara of the marriage, ""I promise you, we will. ... Absolutely."

The complete interview with O'Neal will air Friday on "20/20" at 10 p.m. ET.

  • I would not trust Ryan any further than I could throw him, he has shown his true colors to some many people so many times. I think is is very sneaky and sly....I wish Farrah was well enough to see she may being used.

  • I hope that Ryan's love is sincere and he is not planning to capitalize on her by getting big bucks from her recent video and book. Everyone seems to Love Farrah and when she is gone her work will be even more sought after.
