The invite-only Charity party is traditionally held in June by Elton John and his partner David Furnish to raise money for the Elton John Aids Foundation. The first White Tie & Tiara Ball was held in 1999.
The Ball has several rules it requires the guests to follow. Firstly, every year’s ball has its own theme. 2009 is all about Modern Art. The second rule is dress code - white tie & tails for gentlemen, and tiaras and ball gowns for ladies.
This year’s ball was all about shades of white, as it was the prevailing color of the glam event.
Justin Timberlake, who was performing at the ball, arrived in a white dinner jacket looking hot, relaxed and charming.
Hottest bachelor of summer 2009, Chace Crawford, also showed up looking dapper cute in the black tuxedo.
Elizabeth Hurley arrived with her husband Arun Nayar looking very sexy in the plunging white dress she paired with a silver clutch, bracelet and earrings. She looks fabulous for her age, she’s actually age-defying!
Spice Girls singer Geri Halliwell also opted for a white chiffon dress with a thigh slit.To look so dress-code ready she donned a lovely tiara.
Singer Lily Allen wore white but looked ugly. I like her dress but it DOES NOT match with her terrible clutch and heels. Besides, what’s wrong with her hair? Is it some Lady-GaGa inspired look? So lame.
Actress Claire Danes arrived with her fiance Hugh Dancy. She looked slim but kinda plain in that shimmering pavement grey dress. Besides, her fiance left his tie at home.
Lookalikes Kelly Osbourne and her model fiance looked pretty gothic in black. Though thumbs up to the clutch she wore with her dress. Bows are so huge this season.
I’m in love with Kate Beckinsale’s style. It’s very elegant. Very light and Very Ball-ish. Her pale lilac dress paired with tear-drop earrings, bracelet and updo looks fantastic and really sexy.
And here comes my loud hysterical NO to ball fashion. What’s up with Natalie Imbruglia? Did she lose her sense of style somewhere on the way? If not, she should fire her stylists-team. Her black-and-white dress looked horrible for the occasion. She looked so much better at last year’s event! NOT, NOT, NOT GLAMOROUS!
