Farrah's Funeral Full of Love, Emotion, Prayer

Farrah Fawcett was remembered Tuesday at a Los Angeles funeral that was full of love, emotion and prayer.

In a Los Angeles cathedral that was filled with yellow, white and peach flowers, and in a service that included a rendition of "Amazing Grace" and bagpipes, Farrah's longtime love Ryan O'Neal and their son Redmond O'Neal read bible passages to say goodbye.

Redmond, who was allowed to leave jail for his mother's funeral, gave the first reading at the funeral, followed by a reading from his father, who said that his son did a beautiful job. Many mourners expressed their love and support for Redmond.

Easels at the back of the church displayed photos of Farrah, including one of her posing with her beloved son Redmond, who draped rosary beads over his mother's casket before it left the church.

Farrah's best friend Alana Stewart and Dr. Lawrence Piro delivered eulogies, while Ryan and Redmond served as pallbearers.

Farrah's father, James Fawcett, sat in the front pew of the cathedral, while Ryan's daughter Tatum O'Neal sat with Alana Stewart.

Other stars in attendance at Los Angeles' Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral included Marla Maples, Kate Jackson, "Ghostbusters" star Ernie Hudson, model Cheryl Tiegs, actors Garry Shandling and Dick Van Patten, as well as Dick's wife Pat Van Patten, and hairstylist Jose Eber.

  • ryan and redmond, i'm sorry for your mloss she was a beautiful person inside and out and she will be missed, ress in peace
  • GOD BLESS YOU, FARRAH!! God, PLEASE WRAP YOUR LOVING ARMS AROUND REDMOND AND RYAN!! I'm sure they will be so lost without this precious, brave, courageous lady in their lives! Lord Jesus, please give them the strenth & peace they will need to face each day that comes. Redmond, dear, sweet Red - I will continue praying for your successful recovery from the drugs. I share the same disease & my friends, unless you have had to walk this road, PLEASE TRY NOT TO JUDGE AND CONDEMN US!! You have NO idea the horrible hopelessness that each day brings! And if your loving family has chosen to judge you & walk away from you, then you feel so alone & profoundly sad that you can't see any reason to try & fight it (the addiction) anymore! My precious mother and only true encourager, died in May, 2006 & my dad died in Sept;, 2008. As soon as they were gone, my wonderful, Christian sisters took that opportunity to let me know in no uncertain terms that they were through with me & wanted NOTHING else to do with me!! My 35 yr old alcoholic daughter soon followed suite so now, I have no family left - that is alot of loss in such a short time. The hardest part is that until about 5 yrs ago, we were so close & loved each other so much! When one of us needed encouragement or anything else for that matter, we all rallied around that person with the kind of love that you know without a doubt, is a true blessing from God!! It hurts so much to lose that closeness & that sweet, sweet love! WOW, how in the world did I stray so far from my intended subject!!!! ANYWAY, I've been reading so much JUDGEMENTAL JUNK about Redmond & his current situation, I feel like screaming! As if he didn't feel bad enough about losing his mother, he has to deal with everybody else's uninformed, ignorant opinions about what THEY think he should do! PLEASE, Redmond knows what he needs to do, and with our prayers, strenth from God, and knowing how very proud his Mom & Dad will be of him, & how proud he will be of himself, HE WILL MAKE IT!!!!! Thank you so much for letting me sound off. Jan Rene'

    • Jan, I was so sorry to hear your story. Please know that this stranger wishes you all the best in battling your illness and achieving a reconciliation with your sisters and daughter. So many people have walked this difficult path, either directly or indirectly, and it forms a family of its own. I hope you can find support from one of the many support groups available so you don't strugle alone. Use them and remember that even when you might feel alone there will be many thinking about you and praying for you and wishing you well. I will be one of them.

God bless and keep that door in your heart open to your sisters and daughter.

  • To honor Farrah Fawcett I do have to say that she was the greatest Charlie's Angel ever!! Loved that show and couldnt miss watching it... Then when she was replaced with Cheryl Ladd then it seems that the show wasnt truly real without Farrah.. Though I am older now and now Farrah is Gods Newest Angel!! Rest in Peace Farrah though you will not be forgotten....

  • Now Farrah rests with the angels. Her suffering united her closer to God. Does anyone know why Jaclyn Smith was not at her service? They were close friends.
