China bans Johnny Depp & Garfield

Chinese authorities consider them too harmful to moral health of their citizens!

According to the report, Beijing ordered that all personal computers sold in the country starting July 1, 2009 must be equipped with Green Dam, a new Chinese government-mandated internet filter software that blocks all pornographic and violent images.

By them Chinese authorities mean images of Paris Hilton, Johnny Depp, Garfield and roast pork.

Roast pork? Garfield? WTF?

Harmful images, however, do not include porn, the source adds.

Filter critics claim this new software is a new means of political censorship as such worlds as “gay” and “illegal activities” can also be filtered if needed. Thus, everything not approved by Beijing falls under the “illegal activities” category.

What a pity, Chinese fans won’t see Johnny Depp’s face any more.
