In a new interview with Salon, Katharine McPhee—the ex-idolized American up there being choked by her own boobs—admits that she once took Scientology courses to impress a guy. Sounds like a keeper!

I took a couple of courses. It was really all about a guy. It was a guy that I was totally obsessed with -- not obsessed with but totally into and, you know, guys and girls can do that to our lives and make us think we're into something that we're not.

Ummmm...I once tried to like Thrid Eye Blind for a girl. I guess that's similar to studying up on your crush's clandestine cult.

Later in interview, McPhee politely notes that Scientology wasn't for her. Thank goodness she's back to impressing guys with her breasts like normal women.
