The deadline for registration for free tickets to the Michael Jackson memorial service has ended.

An overwhelming 1.6 million people signed up for the lottery for tickets to the King of Pop's public memorial service on Tuesday. Registration began on Friday, July 3 at 10 a.m. PT and ended on July 4 at 6 p.m.

Now, AEG, the company that was producing Michael's 50-date London concerts, will begin "scrubbing" the entries to make sure there are no duplicates or suspicious entries before they complete the random drawing.

On Sunday, 8,750 registrants will be notified that they are among those selected to receive two tickets to either the memorial service taking place at the Staples Center, or the live simulcast at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Notification will take place after 11 a.m.

Each of those selected will be given a unique code and instructions on how to obtain their tickets.

Measures are being taken to avoid the reselling of tickets. A single distribution center is being set up, where, along with the tickets, attendees will be issued a wristband that must be placed on their wrist at that time. If a wristband has been ripped, taped or otherwise mutilated, it will be invalid.
