Steve Carell talks about prioritizing family over career

In a new interview with Fade In magazine, actor Steve Carell said the explosion of his acting career won't come at the expense of his family.  Although his new film Evan Almighty is #1 at the box office and his television show The Office is an undeniable hit, Steve says he has to say 'no' to potential projects sometimes -- no matter how tempting the offer.

The idea that I can't do something because I'd promised to take my children to the zoo.  As dumb as that sounds, and as important as these opportunities are...At a certain point, when the pressure of doing too many things simultaneously starts eroding family life, [that] was the hardest, but ultimately easiest, thing to do:  to say 'I have to leave this aspect of my life intact, or I won't have a life' ... I won't look back at the end of my life and cherish every movie I've made.  It will be my family -- that will be the important thing.  That's my perspective.

Steve and his wife Nancy Walls have two children: Elisabeth, 6, and John, 3.
