McDermott says stepmom Eve Ensler led him to act

NEW YORK (AP) — Dylan McDermott didn't even consider acting until Eve Ensler came into his life.

Ensler of "The Vagina Monologues" fame married his father when McDermott was 15. And he considered her "mom."

McDermott says "she instantly said that I should be an actor." He says Ensler "saw something" in him. She walked him over to HB Studio in Manhattan and signed him up for an acting class "and that was it."

The 47-year-old actor stars in TNT's new undercover cop drama, "Dark Blue," which premieres Wednesday.
