Steamy pictures of the couple snogging in a Jacuzzi at a private Mexican resort were published in US magazine Life and Style last week.
But there are much saucier photos which reportedly show Nick and Vanessa in several sexual positions.
A source told gossip website TMZ.com: "The pictures are Paris Hilton sex tape level."
The couple's lawyer has warned weekly magazines they will face a lawsuit if they publish the shocking images.
He said: "The photographer was outrageous and malicious.
"The photos that were taken of our clients by a Mexican photographer violated Mexican law and were a clear invasion of privacy, and we have threatened to take legal action against third parties who publish the photos."
Nick and Vanessa have agreed to give the Stateside OK! magazine an exclusive interview to discuss the hot tub incident and the photos released last month of LINDSAY LOHAN holding a knife against Vanessa's throat.
