President Barack Obama reacted jokingly this morning to some comments thrown at him by the fashion police regarding the blue jeans he wore at the All-Star game.

"Michelle, she looks fabulous. I'm a little frumpy," he laughs with "Today Show" host Meredith Vieira. "A few years ago I only had four suits. [Michelle] used to tease me because they'd get real shiny."

As for his dungarees, Obama says he's keeping them. "I hate to shop. Those jeans are comfortable."

He also offers a funny message to America in defense of his style, "For those of you who want your President to look great in his tight jeans, I'm sorry. I'm not the guy."

  • Aw so many sadly spared the presidential muffin top. Low cut is a trend, and a foul one too I might add unless you are 13 and weigh 80 lbs...You can call my mom jeans 'Marilyn' jeans, thank you.

  • Couldn't agree with the Pres more; comfort should always win over style and as a jean retailer for several years, the only thing I was trying to determine was the brand and style. Jeans have various brands and styles, in fact even several brands...

  • I could be wrong BUT I'm thinking he has more important stuff to do than go buy jeans!!! I'm thinking new jeans, bad economy, however old jeans, money in my pocket. I like the second choice better.

  • I would hope that there are more inportant things going on than to worry about the President not buying new jeans to go to the ballgame. Only in America would people judge other people of the way they dress regardless if you are the President or a...

  • For all the people who want to bash Obama over any lack of consumerism, shame on you. Whatever else you agree or disagree with him on, him not wanting to buy new shiny clothing should not be a point to disagree on. Over-consumerism is killing the...

  • Its funny that the jeans should be talked about. My teenage son and I watched the All-Star game together and he laughed at the Presidents jeans. He said that he looked like they were bell bottoms from the 70s and that they were cutting high water!...
