"You know, I think that you will all really be able to relate to this next song in your lives. You probably know it's inevitable that in a relationship, sometimes you will have your heart broken at some point," she told the audience at the Deer Valley Music Festival, People magazine reports.
The publication reported on Friday that Rimes and Sheremet were no longer living together. "LeAnne and Dean have been separated for quite some time now, but they're continuing to try and work through their relationship," a source told People.
Rimes told the Utah audience, "Sometimes, you might say that you can't do anything and sometimes, you want revenge. Sometimes, you say, 'You're not worth it.' But sometimes, you don't, and that's when you leave it in God's hands and know that he will take care of it."
Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Rimes was romantically linked to her 'Northern Lights' costar Eddie Cibrian. US magazine reported last week that Cibrian and his wife had separated. "Eddie and I have decided to take some time apart," Brandi Glanville told the publication. "I want to do what is best for our children. Eddie and LeAnn deserve each other."
