Kara DioGuardi Returns to 'American Idol'

"The Insider" has confirmed that "American Idol"'s newest addition, Kara DioGuardi, will be returning to the judge's table.

“We are so happy to welcome back Kara for her second season with IDOL,” said Simon Fuller, Creator and Executive Producer of "Idol," said of the Grammy-nominated songwriter. “She is a breath of fresh air, and her passion for music and her understanding of talent is invaluable. This show is all about discovering new talent, and Kara’s championing of Adam Lambert is proof positive of her great instinct.”

News of Kara's return next season comes after reports that Paula Abdul maybe exiting the program. Abdul's new manager told the Los Angeles Times, "Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on 'Idol.'"

The ninth season of "American Idol" will premiere in January, 2010.

  • Come on, Kara is great but she hardly adds as much as Simon Fuller is saying she does. Also, wasn't it Paula who championed Adam, not Kara!? They should have renewed Paula's deal earlier and sorry but Kara isn't needed.
