Paula Abdul Leaves 'American Idol'

After speculation and reports that "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul would not be returning to the hit Fox competition show, Abdul has finally set the record straight and tells her fans she will not be returning for the next season.

 

"With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to 'Idol,'' she writes on her Twitter. "I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon."

Abdul also reached out to her fans and thanked them for their support.

"It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month," she writes. "What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me."

Fox responded to Abdul leaving the show with the following statement.

"Paula Abdul has been an important part of the 'American Idol' family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show," Fox tells "The Insider." "While Paula will not be continuing with us, she's a tremendous talent and we wish her the best."

  • I had a better opinion of Paula before she opened her yap. Apparently, she never heard the expression " it's best to keep your mouth shut and be thought of as a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt".

  • My dreams have been answered. My wife and I are so happy to hear Paula is leaving AI. She brings nothing to the program; nothing! Contestants want real criticism, so they can improve themselves, not feels goods about how special they are.
